Introduction

I'm a scientist by training, with emphasis on Natural Science. Needless to say I have a fondness for the great outdoors, plants and wildlife. I grew up in Los Angeles and am currently married to a film maker. I find myself constantly entertained, annoyed, appalled and, every so often, impressed by how my field of specialty is portrayed in commercial Hollywood film. You may not consider what I write about as important as the more conventional 'thumbs up/thumbs down' criticisms of plot, character, or how realistic the special effects looked, but I hope you will make a little extra room in your heart for the intrigue of scientific accuracy (you'll probably learn something you didn't know!).
